Prologue

The Umerium Clan, proud and immortal, extended its influence across the vast reaches of the universe, drawing strength from its advanced technology and mystical faith in science. Their journey through time and space was a relentless pursuit of knowledge and dominance, built upon the foundations of both exploration and war. Yet the history of this empire was marked not only by triumphs, but also by catastrophes and moral dilemmas that shaped their civilisation.
It all began on the ancient planet of Umerium — rocky and barren, yet capable of sustaining life, though its early forms were fragile and unremarkable. Evolution, the great and boundless artist, carried out her work there, giving rise to Homo sapiens — intelligent beings, though frail, with minds full of hope, yet haunted by gnawing fears. These first generations of the Umerians were unaware of the future that awaited their race. Still, they planted the seeds of thought and the pursuit of perfection — and some of those seeds, in time, took root and grew, lifting them to new heights of existence.
For centuries, Homo sapiens of Umerium developed in the shadow of their true potential, bound to the earth even as their minds wandered among the stars. Each generation carried forward the seed of knowledge, exploring and questioning what was once held as truth. As they delved deeper into the secrets of nature and uncovered the laws of matter, they gradually expanded their adaptive capabilities. Time, like evolution, worked in their favour, and both their bodies and minds underwent subtle transformations.
Eventually, a new form emerged — Homo Deus — a race that, through biological and technological advancement, not only endured but also gained the power to reshape the universe according to their will. They were gods in human skin, beings capable of transcending death and the biological limits that had once confined their ancestors.
Yet the attainment of godhood did not come without sacrifice. The ageing processes that had once been a natural part of life for Homo sapiens were drastically curtailed. Homo Deus were beings whose cells scarcely degenerated, and whose minds retained their sharpness for centuries. Though their bodies could still experience fatigue or pain, they were resistant to most diseases and the forces that had once ravaged their forebears.
Over time, the Umerians came to call themselves “the Immortals,” though the awareness that time and death still lingered somewhere on the horizon never truly left them.
In this new form, Homo Deus achieved what humanity had always longed for — a life almost without limits. Their society flourished, yet a shadow emerged: the awareness of the constraints that still bound them. Though they were incomparably stronger and more resilient than their ancestors, there was a faction among them that recognised their flaws.
They saw that, despite their remarkable achievements, Homo Deus remained beings confined within limited, mortal frames — only slightly more enduring than those who had come before.
Magno Alexander was among those who understood the need for further evolution. Even as a young scientist, he explored the possibilities of immortality and transformation that went beyond the known limits, pushing his thoughts past the boundaries of biology and physics. He believed that Homo Deus should not merely extend life, but liberate it entirely from physical and spiritual constraints. Magno sought knowledge and power to lead his people towards a state of absolute perfection.
Magno’s path was long and filled with discovery, but also with dangers that transformed both himself and the entire society of Umerium. He ventured into the darkest corners of scientific pursuit, challenging what had once been deemed sacred and untouchable.
He experimented beyond ethical boundaries, introducing technology into realms where his predecessors had not dared to look. His ambition led him to uncover dark and arcane knowledge, and his achievements laid the foundation for the future Empire.
