Book of Three.
Prologue
The Mineum Clan, Lords of the Poisonous Mists and Hostile Abysses – 1 IUT.6
The Mineum Clan stands out in the Empire for its exceptional adaptability and unusual physiology. Its members are slightly larger than the Homet Niz, but differ in structure—their bodies are delicate, lacking the massive musculature typical of the Empire’s warriors. The Mineum inhabit three key planets: Fronnox, Tozonde, and Czczote, where the Empire has built great pyramids that serve as centers of administration and production.
These planets are covered by a unique layer of gas produced by the Mineum themselves. They generate these gases through metabolic processes, and the resulting micro-spheres form a natural shield against harsh climatic and atmospheric conditions. This allows them to survive in environments that would be toxic and uninhabitable for other races.
One of the most extraordinary abilities of the Mineum Clan is their power to transform into pure energy. Only a select few possess this skill, which requires exceptional control over the body and a refined understanding of its functions. This process allows them to almost completely blend into their surroundings, making them undetectable and nearly invincible in certain situations. However, the transformation demands immense effort and is extremely exhausting, meaning only the most powerful and highly trained Mineum are capable of fully utilizing it.
The planets inhabited by the Mineum Clan—Fronnox, Tozonde, and Czczote—are harsh, hostile worlds where extreme conditions pose a challenge even to the most resilient species. Each of these planets has a unique ecosystem, filled with diverse fauna adapted to survive in the toughest environments.
Fronnox, dominated by rocky terrain and arid basins, is home to numerous species with hard, chitinous shells and the ability to blend into their surroundings—allowing them to survive both relentless dust storms and the harsh climate. On Tozonde, where endless swamps stretch beneath thick, acidic mists, dwell creatures resembling serpentine aquatic beings with bioluminescent scales that communicate and lure prey through light in the darkness.
Czczote, on the other hand, is a planet of damp, shadowy landscapes, covered in fungus-like vegetation. It is inhabited by organisms that secrete toxic substances as a defense mechanism. Here, dominant species—much like the Mineum themselves—are capable of emitting gases to survive in the planet’s uniquely hostile environment.
Despite their threatening appearance and atmosphere, these planets offer rich biodiversity, and the Mineum Clan has learned to harness both the local fauna and gaseous resources for survival and defense. Their ability to generate protective micro-spheres and to transform into energy makes them feel at home in these harsh worlds, where their unique adaptive skills play a vital role in daily life.
